  •  Last Sunday, March 6, we had Mason's baby blessing.  It was a really nice Sunday.  Everything went according to plan and it made things very fun.  I especially loved hearing my husband use his priesthood authority to give Mason his name and a blessing.  Very sweet moment!

Family and Friends came over to our house after Sacrament meeting for a light lunch... and that turned out great!  Everyone helped pitch in with items for the meal, and there was more than enough to go around!  We had cleaned out our basement and laid some carpet down for people to be able to go downstairs.  It ended up being the PERFECT area for all of the kiddos to run and play!

The ONLY thing that I am regretting is that I didn't take pictures like I should have.  I did snap a few...

My mom made Mason's blessing outfit, so we took this picture a couple of weeks ago when we picked it up.  He wasn't very happy that day, but he sure looked handsome!

The ONLY person I got a picture of holding Mason... GG Romig!

Thanks to all of the people that came to support us and Mason: Mama and Papa Romig, Kami, Cameron, Courtney, Whitney (Josh was working), Mindy, Cole, Luke, Ellee (Damon was sick), Chase and Teresa, Ashlyn, Alyssa, Ashley (Jed was home with the sick kiddos), GG Romig, Grandma and Grandpa Dowland, Nicole, Naudia, GG Dowland, Aunt Jeanie, and Bryce and Becca!!!  We had a LOT of support!!

Here is our handsome boy in his blessing outfit during the photo shooot.

  • On top of everything else that happened this week, we also had Brody's 2 year and Mason's 2 month doctor appointments. The doctor let us push Brody's appointment back one month so that we wouldn't have to come three months in a row. It'll be way nice in the future too, because we will hit all of their apointment times at the same time. Kinda nice!

    Here are Brody's stats:

Height: 34in (32%... better than the 10-15% he has constantly been )

    Weight: 29.32lb (64%)

    Head circumfrence: 19.5in (70%)

Brody got one vaccination this time. I told him we were going to give him medicine. We poked him, injected, applied the band-aid and Brody reminded us that he needed medicine and opened his mouth. No tears, no reaction whatsoever to being poked with the needle. Takes after his mommy, DEFINITELY not his daddy.

Those of you who have spent more than one minute with Brody knows how smart this kid is!! He is using sentences like crazy and adding descriptive words all the time. I am so grateful for it, because I know he understands what I say to him. If he doesn't know what something is, he will ask. He is also learning his
colors and has a few of them down... utah (red), blue, green, black, brown and orange. He has issues with yellow a lot and sometimes he just guesses. He counts up to ten. On top of knowing his numbers, he is also starting to apply them as quantities. "Two birds", one flew away and he knew that then there was only "one bird". He has just recently started applying"three of them" to objects as well. He knows his shapes, including heart, star, circle, oval, hexagon and SOMETIMES square and diamond (thanks to the handy app that we have on the I-pod touch and on his aunt Coey's I-phone. He is a very active little boy. He LOVES to go to the park and is constantly testing his boundaries. The best moments that we have with Brody is when he says his own prayers, "Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen", when he says, "Lub choo, GOOD night", when he "thanks" us without us even asking for it or reminding him, or even when we aren't expecting it, and also when he apologizes when we haven't reminded him. This little boy is so fun-loving, but he is also keeping us on our toes, that's for sure. He seems to have days where he is VERY stubborn, and other days where he is just so light-hearted that he'd go for anything. It is always interesting to see which kind of day we are going to have.

Mason is already two months old!! That is just crazy to me!! I can't believe how quickly time is flying by!! Here are his stats:

    Weight: 10lb 10oz (25%)

    Height: 22 1/4 in (24%)

    Head Circumfrence: 15in (13%)

What can I say, we just have small kids! Mason has really started smiling a ton! He is a happy baby. The only time he cries is when he is hungry and has just started fussing with a messy bum. He LOVES to be naked for some reason. Whenever he is fussing and I am busy with something, Adam just takes his
clothes off and he starts smiling and cooing. He has really started "talking" to us a lot lately too. It is so cute to hear his little sounds!! We have a play arch and Mason LOVES it!!! He will just sit and bat at the little hanging toys for a long time!  Mason also loves loves LOVES to play in the tubby. He splashes and talks the whole time.  It makes me happy to see him hitting some of his milestones as well!

Mason likes to sleep with his head turned one direction, and we noticed that his head was somewhat flat on the back side of his head. So I have been angling him with a blanket under that side so that he doesn't always lay on that side. Our doctor saw it and mentioned that we will have to watch it. I asked him if
it doesn't change whether or not he would have to wear one of those sad little helmets that I have seen babies wear... and he confirmed that he would. So I am being way diligent with not letting him sleep only on that side of his head. I HATE seeing babies wear those things... makes me sad!

Lots of pictures to come... but xanga is being funny!

  • What a BUSY week!

Two weeks ago I received a call from the bishopric asking if I could bring my husband and come in for a quick meeting.  I was VERY excited because I knew they would either be releasing me from my callings (of which I had 3) and assigning me a new one... Or just releasing me.  I knew it was highly unlikely that they would give me a FOURTH calling.

So, when we got there and went into the meeting they asked me how my callings were going.  Since I had Mason I haven't done ANY of them, so it had been a nice little break from the stress that is sometimes associated with callings.  So that is what I told them.  They said, well how would you like an indefinite break from those callings.  At that moment, I thought how bittersweet it would be.  I loved  my scouts!  They are at a fun age... and I hadn't even been with them for a couple of months, so I never really got to tell them I loved being in with them.  I really liked this calling, because before I NEVER knew really what went on in scouts... and it helped me to be prepared for when my boys hit the scouting age.  I was also SUPER sad to be release from being ward chorister.  If you read my post a year ago when I was put it, this would shock you... but I grew to LOVE it!  There is just so much power in music!

So, I say that this was bittersweet, because I was then asked if I would be willing to be the 1st counselor in the Young Women's organization!  I LOVED Young Women's growing up!  It was such an important thing for me in my growth as a youth.  I gained a greater knowledge and testimony through Young Women's.  So needless to say, I am ECSTATIC to be in the Young Women's again!

We were sustained two weeks ago, but haven't been set-apart yet because the Bishop wanted to be there for that and he was out of town.  That Sunday we had our first presidency meeting.  The following Wednesday we had our first mutual. Sunday was Stake conference, but we still had our presidency meeting that night.  Monday was family day.  Tuesday, I spent the afternoon setting up a blog for our young women and getting clipart and other things saved to my computer so I have them in the future, and then we had stake camp certification at the church.  Wednesday, we went and visited the MiaMaid president and took her cookies (she is turning 16 this month, so I'll lose her as she moves up to Laurels).  Yesterday, I had MY class presidency meeting to help me wrap my head around the activities we have planned, etc.  (I have to say that I love my girls!!  They are at such a fun age!!  I also really like my advisor.  She is on top of everything!)  We as MiaMaids are in charge of leading opening exercises in both Young Women's on Sundays as well as Mutual mid-week.  We were also SUPPOSED to be in charge of planning our combined activity this month with the Young Men, but we got a free pass because we are going to the cannery this month as our combined activity!  It is a way more time consuming calling than I think I have ever had, but I am REALLY going to enjoy it!!  The only thing I am worried about and will probably continue to worry about is that I know kids are supposed to be left at home... which I totally understand the reasoning behind that and it is TOTALLY FINE (because I enjoy getting out every now and then), but if Mason gets hungry while I am gone Adam will have to deal with it until I get home.  I only have a little bit of milk pumped, so I may have to be more diligent with that so I don't worry about Mason being hungry. Either that or just the emergency formula that we have will actually be used.  I do feed him right before I leave, so he is normally fine during normal mutual, but when we have things like the cannery planned that take longer than 2 hours plus travel time, I worry.

So it has been a pretty busy week with Young Women's, but on top of that, we are blessing Mason this coming Sunday. I have been planning the little get together for afterward.  Cleaning our house. Cleaning the BASEMENT (because we don't really have a lot of room upstairs for everyone... so the unfinished basement will just have to do for those who can't sit upstairs). And on top of that I have two boys to play with and take care of. I have to say that once this week is over, I will be a happy camper! Wish me luck!

  • Goal #1: Accomplished

Right after I had Brody I started to lose weight and thought that I would be able to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight.  Those aspirations were halted quickly when I had my IUD put in and I gained all of my weight back.  That summer I tried to lose weight again, but didn't succeed and since then had gained so much weight that I was above Brody's full-term pregnancy weight when I got pregnant with Mason.  In fact, I was 15 pounds more than my full-term with Brody weight!  When I got pregnant I had already dropped a few pounds after having my IUD removed, so my pre-pregnancy weight with Mason was still 9 pounds more than my full-term weight with Brody.

Two weeks ago, Adam and I started our weight loss regimen.  We have just been working out and eating healthier.  My short term goal was to get to the weight I was at full-term with Brody's pregnancy. (A weight I haven't seen in over a year and a half!)  I have officially lost 29 pounds from Mason's full-term weight! This is a huge step for me!

The thing that is so crazy to me is that this last weekend... I did ANYTHING but try to lose weight.  In fact, Adam and I went to this all you can eat pizza/arcade place, all you can eat sushi, Wendy's for a baconator, AND bought Dunford donuts from Costco!!!  Yeah, it was a disgusting weekend... and it made me feel disgusting too (all but the donuts... LOVE the chocolate donuts!!)  I worked out hard yesterday in hopes that I hadn't gained TOO much weight this last weekend.  When it came time to weigh in I was feeling crappy for letting myself eat the junk!  I weighed in and had STILL lost weight. I was shocked!!  I got in the shower and rededicated myself to losing this weight, because had I been diligent this past week, I may have lost even more weight!! We weigh in after The Biggest Loser on Tuesdays... at night.  Well, I was still one pound away from reaching my goal.  I decided to weigh in this morning too, knowing that mornings are typically slightly lower weights... and I made it!!

This was the weight I needed to reach to stay motivated!!  I am ecstatic and looking forward to eating healthy and working out more!!
